Holden HJ Statesman: For several weeks this purple HJ Statesman has alluded all my attempts to photograph it for the pleasure of readers of brakehorsepower… but finally I’ve cornered and captured this wonderful Holden luxury car from the 1970’s. Found at the local tavern, resting of course. A fitting choice of paint colour for this Statesman I might add.

Holden VB Commodore SL/E: The very first of the Holden Commodore series in Australia and a radical departure from the previous Kingswood style of vehicles. This one’s an upmarket SL/E model, although judging from the exhaust it’s only a 6 cylinder version. Never the less, is still quite distinctive and attractive with the factory alloy wheels.

2014 Big Al’s Poker Run is annual pilgrimage for car enthusiasts from all over Australia. This years event was again up to its usual high standard with stacks of interesting cars you just don’t normally see…anywhere.

The sun was hot and so were the cars!

I’ve selected 24 best of the best cars. Ironically, some of the best cars I saw were spectator cars sitting the car park…almost a car show in itself.
