1950 Vauxhall Velox: Reader Jacob from India is currently in the process of restoring his 1950 model Vauxhall Velox. This car was originally owned and driven by his father for many years and Jacob also took his drivers license in the same car in 1968. Jacob is seeking suspension parts, door handles, badges & trim, lights and a few other parts to bring it back to it’s former glory. Vauxhall Velox PB: Apparently, they were not slow, but any car in battle ship grey can’t be fast. This Velox features a 6 cylinder engine and Hydramatic auto transmission which was quite reasonable for its time. I note the front almost has a Holden EJ / EH style about, but perhaps I need glasses. Bravo for this Velox still going strong!
The Western Australian branch of the Vauxhall Owners Club held a display of vehicles at Manners Hill Park, Peppermint Grove on the 25 September. This display included a wide range of Vauxhall cars ranging from the 1920’s to the 1970’s with some of Vauxhall’s classic models well represented.
Though not exactly a central location for a car show, it certainly was an interesting one, with some of Perth’s (and Australia’s) most exclusive real estate nearby, and if anything, the view to the Swan River was stunning. Parking was easy and there were some facilities quite close such as a coffee shop and toilets which was pleasing.
The event was quite well organised and I was pleased to see nearly all cars had a written description including the year, model, engine type and other information which was very helpful for those who are non Vauxhall literate.
